Luge Capital, a leading fintech-focused venture capital firm, is looking for a senior investment professional to join our team. In this role, you’ll be hands-on across the full investment lifecycle from sourcing and evaluating companies to negotiating and closing deals, and supporting our portfolio companies as they grow. You’ll work closely with our investment team, Partners, Investment Committee, and LPs, and play an active role in shaping the firm’s investments.
Responsibilities
- Use your network to identify and connect with outstanding companies that align with our fintech investment theses, with a strong focus on exceptional founders.
- Lead the due diligence process end to end, bringing in external experts when helpful.
- Review and interpret detailed financial models to inform investment decisions and portfolio support.
- Draft term sheets and lead negotiations through to closing.
- Write and review investment memos that clearly articulate our thesis and conviction behind each opportunity.
- Partner with external legal counsel to negotiate and close investments smoothly.
- Work closely with portfolio companies to support strategy, hiring, operations, and fundraising efforts.
- Serve on portfolio company boards as a director or observer, providing thoughtful, well-informed guidance to founders.
- Develop your own investment ideas and collaborate with the Luge team and industry partners to refine them.
- Share insights with Partners and LPs on emerging trends and high-impact innovation across fintech.
- Contribute to quarterly reporting by providing clear perspectives on the performance and outlook of your portfolio companies.
- Bring fresh ideas and initiatives that add unique value to the fund.
What we are looking for
- A solid understanding of early-stage venture capital deal mechanics, ideally supported by a legal and/or finance background.
- Strong knowledge of fintech, with hands-on industry experience. Bonus points if you’ve worked in product management or operations at a growing fintech company.
- Experience with venture capital transactions, including cap table analysis, financial statement review, market sizing, industry research, and valuation work.
- A background in VC, private equity, or investment banking is a plus, but not required.
- A self-starter who can own deals end-to-end and proactively create new opportunities.
- Strong Excel modeling and presentation skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable.
- Willing and able to travel across Canada and the United States.
- Actively engaged in the fintech and venture capital community.
